FIREWORKS at the FOWLERS: This Wednesday Night

CBSM, tomorrow night will be HUGE! Our worship service will start at its regular time (6:30pm), and we’ll shorten it up to about an hour. Then we’ll all take off and go over to the Fowler family house (directions available tomorrow night) for a sweet cookout and to shoot some fireworks (we love to prolong holidays by celebrating them 3 days later! ha). Now yall listen up, since last year this night was our highest attended night we had ever had. I’m praying that happens again this year! So yall work hard to invite ALL your friends on FACEBOOK, your text list, etc. EVERYBODY GETS AN INVITE! Continue reading ‘FIREWORKS at the FOWLERS: This Wednesday Night’

We’ll continue our super-focused series this week with Psalm 8 “iWorship: as Humanity”. I already can’t wait to see what God is going to do in our lives thorugh it!

cbsm sermon video: Job 1-2 “Afflicted: Clash in the Heavens”

This is the kick-start to our series on the book of Job which is all about when you are going through the roughest and toughest afflictions of all of life. What are we to believe about God, Satan, and ourselves during those times? How can we respond in worship? This sermon is an attempt to answer those questions.

cbsm sermon video: “doctrine of providence – you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers”

Our students had tons of questions from the Doctrine of Providence series.  So here is how we answer their super tough questions to this crazy deep doctrine. Here are some questions:

Does God still send catastrophes to discipline nations or people for sin?

How can God use natural catastrophes like earthquakes and hurricanes to cause certain people to have the opportunity to change so that they follow God’s will, but at the same time cause great destruction or death for others that apparently are already following God’s will in the same affected area?

How do you choose between multiple options of good things for God’s will?

Since God has it all planned out, should I just quit applying to so many colleges?

If God already knows what is going to happen in the future, then why does He have a  will for our lives?

If God is in control, then we’re just finger puppets. If God gives us choices, then God is out of control.  Which is it?

Does God have us a specific person for us to marry?

Does God get tired of hearing same prayers?

Why does a sov wise God answer prayers of dumb humans?

If God is all knowing and does not change His mind, how does prayer change His mind?

CBSM Website Blurbs

Andrew is working on a brand spanking new website for CBSM and asked me to write up a few quick blurbs about our ministry.  Here’s what we came up with…

Storyline:  Our every Wednesday worship service is the time where we are coaching our students toward Christ.  Through epic videos, crazy games, awesome worship, and life-changing preaching: we are constantly pointing to Him.  So, if you’re looking for real worship that takes a real look at God’s Word, come check out some Storyline.

Framework: Our every Sunday morning small groups is the time where we are growing our students in community.  Through tight friendships and interesting discussions: our students are growing closer to Christ and each other.  So, if you’re looking for relationships that really grow together spiritually, come check out some Framework.

Ministry: Our every Sunday night student ministry teams is the time where we are commissioning our students to serve.  Through using their different God-given gifts, talents, and abilities to serve Christ, their church, and the community: our students making a huge difference by just doing what they are good at.  So, if you’re looking for real purpose that takes your life seriously, come check out some CBSM SMTs (Student Ministry Teams).

Bio: Chip has been the pastor of student ministries here at Capshaw Baptist Church since November 2007.  He grew up in Alabama (Tuscaloosa to be exact), so he’s pumped to be in an area where he gets the people and they get him.  He graduated from Baptist Bible College in PA with a youth ministry degree in 2001, and he graduated from Southern Seminary in KY with a masters of divinity degree in 2006.  Knowing Chip is really simple, he’s just super passionate about teaching teenagers the gospel and glory of Jesus Christ in all of life.

CBSM Weekly Announcements

CBSM students, parents, and leaders:
A LOT has happened since our last email last week.  First, me and some students have been praying recently to see God saved more lives, and since then we’ve seen 6 or more!  Second, Phillip McBryde (CBSM and BJHS senior) preached a super epic sermon last Wednesday called “When God Laid the Smack Down.”  You gotta get to the blog (www.storylineframework.com <http://www.storylineframework.com/> ) and listen to it if you missed it!  Third, we had a HUGE All-Nighter with about 127 teens including about 64 visitors which means we had more visitors than CBSMers for the first time ever.  Shout-out to our teens who are reaching their friends!  Last, a few of us got to hear Blake’s (CBSM and BJHS junior) practice sermon this past Sunday.  He’ll BRING IT this Wednesday night…and its all on “Total Restoration.”  You won’t want to miss it…along with our crazy games, awesome worship, and super fun.  It’s so good to be a CBSMite!

NETMA is attached for your viewing pleasure.  Be sure to check out the Reading Plan for this week.
